“That Thou Art”
Acrylic painting on stretched canvas
This self-portrait began with a simple yet profound question: “Who am I?” As I sketched out initial ideas, I acknowledged each of the roles I play in this life, mother, artist, lover, daughter, friend, and as the list continued, I felt the layers of my identity were like masks, that others give me, temporary identities, and I felt them dropping away. Behind all those masks is essence, and a web of thoughts. I am not this mind. I am not this body. I am without form, beyond time and space. I am in everything, and everything is in me.
