Call for Entries: The Female Gaze

1. DVAA Agrees to the following:

● DVAA reserves the right to remove a Work from the Exhibition should we deem the

condition of the work unfit for display. DVAA may choose to replace an artwork if a work

should become unavailable or otherwise unable to be exhibited.

● DVAA will market the exhibition and may use images of your work to do so. DVAA does

not cover the cost of printing marketing materials unless otherwise agreed to in writing.

● Work will be listed for sale on DVAA’s site unless other arrangements or requests are

made.

● DVAA will do its utmost to ensure the safekeeping of all artworks but are not responsible

for damages should they occur during the exhibition or in storage.

● DVAA will store artwork for up to 2 weeks. Work that is left at DVAA past that time frame

may become the property of DVAA.

● No Work will be removed from its frame or other permanent mounting, nor will DVAA

make or permit the making of any repairs or perform any remedial action on any Work,

without prior written authorization from the Artist except in case of an emergency.

2. Artist/Member agrees to the following:

● DVAA will work with artists on placement of their piece but DVAA has final approval on

where artwork is installed in the gallery.

● The Artist/Member may not change the artwork or add or subtract a work or works

without the DVAA’s advance written approval.

● The title, date, size, medium, price, and artist listed are all correct for the selected work.

● The work will arrive at the gallery ready to hang, meaning:

○ Wall-hung work will have a wire or clip on the back that allows it to be securely

mounted to the wall.

■ Note: Sawtooth hangers are strongly discouraged.

○ 2-D work that is not framed or wired on the back will easily and safely be able to

be mounted to the wall.

○ 3-D work will be able to be safely displayed on a pedestal or the Artist/Member

will communicate if they have some other means of display well in advance of

exhibition installation.

● Artists are responsible for wrapping their own artwork and providing packing materials.

○ Unwrapped artworks in storage may be damaged.

● The Artist agrees to adhere to the following exhibition timeline:

○ Selected artwork will be on view from March 1 - March 23, 2025

○ Artwork drop off: Before Feb 19th, Thursday-Sunday, 11-6

○ Opening Reception: March 1st, 4-7 pm

○ Closing Reception: March 23rd, 12-2 pm

○ Artwork pickup at DVAA: March 23 - March 28th, 2025

3. Financial Arrangements

● The Artist/Members will receive 70% of sales, DVAA will take 30% commission if their

artwork is sold during the exhibition. Non members receive 50% of sales.

● Artists are not permitted to sell work that is actively being exhibited at DVAA outside of

DVAA’s system. DVAA staff must facilitate sales.

● Artists are responsible for any transportation or packing costs including shipping.

4. Photography, Reproductions, and Publicity

● DVAA shall provide a press release and selected photographs of Works from the

Exhibition specifically for use in promotional articles, pamphlets, entrance tickets,

advertising, the DVAA website, and other similar promotional and educational material

relating to the Exhibition, as well as for television programs reviewing or discussing the

Exhibition.

● Photography, filming, and videography of the Exhibition, including television coverage,

may be permitted for documentary, educational, or publicity purposes related to the

Exhibition.

● DVAA assumes no responsibility for any fees or royalties claimed by artists or on their

behalf with regard to any unauthorized reproduction, whether by photograph, film, or

other medium, of the Works in the Exhibition made or occurring during, and in

connection with, the showing of the Exhibition by the Artist/Members.

5. Liability

The Artist/Member agrees to hold harmless and indemnify DVAA from and against all claims, damages, losses, expenses, and from and against all liabilities, losses, or expenses arising out of any claim by a third party of a violation of copyright laws or reproduction rights occurring during, and in connection with, the showing of the Work in the Exhibition.

DVAA and Artist/Members agree to use their best efforts to resolve through discussion and negotiation any disagreement arising out of or under the terms of this Agreement. Failing a negotiated resolution between the parties, the Organizer and the Exhibitor agree to participate in voluntary mediation (selecting a mediator by mutual agreement of the parties), but if after 60 days from the date of the first request by a party for voluntary mediation, no resolution of the dispute has occurred, then the parties agree that the dispute shall be resolved in the city of Philadelphia, state of PA, in accordance to the Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association in effect at the time this Agreement is signed.
