Flags, from New Intimacies
Flags, from New Intimacies is a sculptural installation that explores the complexities of intimacy through self-portraiture. The work consists of six white silk flags, each printed from images taken on instant film. These photographs capture self-portraits during intimate encounters with new partners.
The arrangement of the flags—clustered and hanging loose—encourage interaction. As viewers move around the piece, they may wish to adjust the fabric or position themselves differently to reveal the images more clearly. This process reflects the nuanced nature of intimacy, where perception shifts and becomes more complex the closer one gets.
The images from New Intimacies are intentionally implicit rather than explicit, withholding details and leaving the viewer to interpret the moments.
