ARTIST STATEMENT

Self (Drummer) reflects my continuing identify as a drummer. As photographers we can document ourselves in almost any way we choose. We can explore and compare how others have photographed us throughout our lives with how we have, or would like to, photograph ourselves, see ourselves. We choose what to show or hide when we show this work in public, and create or open up boundaries with the viewer and within ourselves.

Portraits of my self have been a recurring theme since beginning to photograph decades ago. From B&W analog, to adding collage and mixed media, to digital, self-portraits are the source of endless exploration into who I am, how I became the current ‘me’, and what continues to intrigue and mystify me about that path.
