Jackie Conley

Jackie Conley (@judasg0at) is a New York-based illustrator and painter. She was born and raised in Albany, New York, where she lives and works for part of the year. Her artwork confronts abnormalities within the human and non-human form and how their experiences overlap. Much of her work is informed by her lived experience of the chaos within the female body. Jackie focuses on pen and ink for her illustrations, and when working with paint, primarily works in oil on canvas or wood. She is currently attending State University of New York at New Paltz where she is completing her BFA in Drawing & Painting.

Statement

There is an inherent chaos to the female experience: the contortion, mutilation, and disembowelment of our bodies until we become monstrous and unrecognizable, all in effort to cannibalize the fear that is so deeply ingrained into us. In my practice, the distorted female form is a vessel; my exploration of womanhood both experienced and perceived, the relationship turbulent and evolving. Using motifs like contortion and evisceration, I dive into both the sanctity and horror of femininity through oil paintings and ink illustrations.
